Saturday night in Nyack, you walked down Main Street for dinner, the keys are in the car, and the car is at the Memorial Park lot. Or you just moved into a Victorian on North Broadway and the original mortise lock won't latch. Or a Broadway storefront needs a rekey before Monday. This is what we run to Nyack for — and we know the town down to the block.

Call (845) 490-8899Downtown Nyack has its own pace. The stretch from Route 9W down to the Hudson is a dense commercial strip — restaurants, galleries, boutiques, professional offices, most of them in old brick buildings where the original storefront hardware has been rekeyed and replaced more times than anyone tracks. Main Street and Broadway carry foot traffic seven days a week. The side streets off them — Burd, DePew, Hudson Avenue — run residential with older homes, many of them historic, many of them with locks that predate the people living there.
Two things about Nyack shape our work here more than anywhere else. First, historic hardware — a lot of doors in Nyack have locks that are 80, 100, sometimes 120 years old. Replacing them with modern hardware often means new mortise work and new strike plates. We do this carefully, with respect for the door, and we'll tell you honestly when a lock is worth preserving versus replacing. Second, weekend commercial traffic — Nyack's restaurant and shopping draw brings a lockout pattern we don't see elsewhere: visitors locking keys in cars at the Memorial Park lot, the Marydell lot, the municipal garage, or on the side streets.
The vehicle mix reflects Nyack's character. A lot of older Volvos and Subarus from long-time residents, Land Rovers and Audis from weekend visitors, BMWs and Porsches parked along the waterfront on Saturday nights. Lots of people walk, so we also see a steady stream of vintage bicycle lock work — yes, we do bike locks, and we're more useful on that than most locksmiths will tell you.

Storefront rekey after a lease change, historic front-door lock replacement on a Broadway Victorian, car lockout at the Memorial Park or Marydell lot, lost car keys for a weekend visitor, broken key in an old mortise lock, restaurant back-door lock service.
The brick row houses on Main, the Victorians along North Broadway, the apartments above the Main Street storefronts, the Nyack Public Library, the Hopper House, the condos and rentals on Piermont Avenue. Old bones, old hardware, and — more often than you'd think — original keys that still work.
Not every old lock needs replacing. Some of the mortise locks in Nyack houses are genuinely beautiful and still functional — worth keeping and rekeying rather than swapping out. Others are past the point of graceful aging and need modern replacements that match the door aesthetic. We'll walk through it with you. We've opted to preserve hardware more often than replace it when the lock still earns its keep.
Lost your only key, need a spare, fob stopped working, or a key broke off in the ignition — we come to your driveway in Nyack, cut the blade from the VIN, and program the transponder to the car's immobilizer on the spot. No tow. No dealer appointment. Usually done in under an hour.
